Spring 2025 Planning Information

Hi Parents and Coaches!
It's hard to believe December is already here, and we will be opening Spring 2025 registration soon! Please be on the lookout for registration to open around 12/15. We will post on FB and email you when it is live. We have a few asks and want to share some information for the upcoming season.

1. HEAD COACHES: We need to start planning for how many head coaches we will have available in each age group for the spring. Please respond as soon as possible if you would like to be considered as a head coach. The executive board will review the need during the registration process (based on numbers registering), approve the appropriate amount of head coaches, and confirm with you just as soon as possible! There is a new Florida statute that will require all coaches, team moms, umpires, etc to have Level 2 background checks done (including fingerprints). We do not have the details on how the process is going to work yet, but want you all to be aware. The league will pay for the backgrounds, but all coaches and team moms will still be responsible for the NAYS coach certification and cost. We will need to stick with a limit of no more than 4 total coaches/team moms per team this season due to the additional cost of the Level 2. If you have already reached out - we appreciate you and you do not need to re-send any information at this time. If we have not heard from you, please respond and provide your name, the age group you wish to coach, and your cell phone number.

2. PLAYER's DIVISIONS: We will abide by our age divisions during the spring season. Your girl's age as of 12/31/2024 will determine which age group she is registered in. Munchkins: 3 to 4.5/5 years old. 6u: 5 and 6 years old (4.5 if several seasons of experience). 8u: 7 and 8 years old. 10u: 9 and 10 years old. 12u: 11 and 12 years old. 18u: 13 to 18 years old. PLAYING UP: A player may play up into the next division of play, if a majority of the coaches in the division and the division director agree, after watching the player in the skills assessment, that the player is capable of playing up. If it is decided the player should stay down in their current division, the player will have to attend another tryout session for the other division prior to the draft. Please refer to our website for ideas on skills per age group for moving up. Head Coaches' daughters will also be permitted to play up during the spring if necessary. If you wish to be considered for playing up - please register for appropriate age division and send us an email.

3. MERCHANDISE FUNDRAISER: We are working on CGS shirts, hoodies, hats, and visors to be sold with profits staying at CGS to assist with rising costs. Hope to have some out soon, and will sell throughout the season.

4. IMPORTANT SPRING DATES:
Coaches Meeting: Thursday 1/16
Assessments: Monday 1/20 for 18u
Tuesday 1/21 for 12u
Thursday 1/23 for 10u
Friday 1/24 for 8u
Practices start: Monday 1/27
Opening Day: Saturday 2/22 - Schedule to be announced
Games start Monday 2/24. Most games will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
Mid-Season Tournament (all teams can attend): 4/5 and 4/6 in Cape Coral
End of Season Tournament: Week of 4/21
All Stars: June 6 to 8 (We are hosting!!!!)
