Christina Girls Softball – Communication Policy
At Christina Girls Softball (CGS), we believe that clear, respectful communication is key to maintaining a positive and productive environment for our players, families, coaches, and volunteers. To help guide our community through concerns, questions, or conflicts, we ask that all parents, guardians, and participants follow this communication protocol.
Step 1: Cooling-Off Period
If a concern arises during a game or practice, we strongly encourage a cooling-off period of at least 24 hours before addressing the issue. This allows time for reflection, reduces emotional responses, and helps ensure more productive conversations.
Please do not confront coaches, umpires, or board members during or immediately following a game.
Step 2: Speak with the Head Coach
Most questions and concerns can be resolved directly and respectfully by speaking with your child’s head coach. We encourage parents to schedule a time (outside of game day) to talk calmly and constructively.
-
Approach the conversation with an open mind.
-
Focus on your child’s experience, not comparisons with other players.
-
Avoid heated discussions in front of players.
Step 3: Contact Your Division Director (If Needed)
If you are unable to resolve the issue with the head coach, or if the concern involves something that requires board awareness (such as a violation of league rules or ongoing unsportsmanlike behavior), you may reach out to your Division Director. The director will listen, gather any necessary information, and determine whether board-level involvement is needed.
Step 4: Board Review (If Necessary)
In rare cases where further action is needed, the CGS Board may be asked to review the matter. The board will gather relevant details, may speak to those involved, and will vote on any necessary action. All board decisions are made by majority vote and are final.
Important Notes
-
Unsportsmanlike behavior toward coaches, officials, or other families will not be tolerated. CGS board members or umpires may eject anyone displaying such behavior.
-
Ejected individuals must leave the complex immediately.
-
Continued violations may result in suspension or removal from league participation following board review.
We thank you for your partnership in making Christina Girls Softball a fun, safe, and supportive space for all of our girls. By following this communication protocol, we can work together to handle concerns respectfully and constructively.
If you have questions about who your Division Director is or need assistance, please visit our website or contact the league directly.
